Analytics
Skin, Unfiltered can use Google Analytics to learn which pages people read, which recommendations appear on screen, which shop and source links are clicked, and whether readers reach the verdicts. I use this only to improve the site. Analytics runs only if you choose “Allow” in the bar at the bottom of the page. Until then, nothing is sent to Google Analytics. Clicks are recorded without changing where any link goes, and affiliate links work the same way whether or not analytics is on.
If you allow it, Google Analytics sets its own cookies and receives information sent by your browser, such as your IP address, browser type, device type and the pages you visit. Skin, Unfiltered does not send your name or email address to Google Analytics. Google Signals and advertising features are turned off. Google Analytics keeps event-level and user-level data for 14 months; the user-level period restarts each time you return. Google Analytics' standard summary reports are not subject to this limit. Your choice is saved in your browser so the bar does not keep reappearing. If you later choose “No thanks”, collection stops straight away and Skin, Unfiltered deletes the Google Analytics cookies (_ga) it set on this site. Changing your choice does not delete data already sent to Google Analytics; that data stays subject to the retention described above.
Fonts on this site are loaded from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address when a page loads.
Pages with the newsletter sign-up form load that form’s script from Kit (ConvertKit, f.convertkit.com) when the page opens, whatever you choose above. If you subscribe, the email address you enter goes to Kit (app.kit.com), which runs the newsletter.
You can change your choice at any time: change your analytics choice. You can also block Google Analytics everywhere with Google’s opt-out browser add-on.
